SCQuARE secures collaboration between Pepsi and its bottlers
PepsiCo and its independent bottler franchisees have always shared the same goal namely to win in every outlet in the USA. However as in any close partnership there are often differences of opinion as to the best way in which to deliver these goals. To ensure everyone’s creative energies and passion were best directed, PepsiCo used SCQuARE as the collaborative tool to create the best possible strategies that would have the ownership and commitment of everyone, creating the launch pad to execute them with rigor in the USA retail and foodservice market.
Pepsi bottlers from across the USA together with key PepsiCo beverage executives were involved to deliver a complete all-encompassing plan, in a time frame that now enables all efforts to be directed towards market execution.
Importantly – make that amazingly – after some initial apprehension, bottlers and PepsiCo associates alike were happy to have participated and positively moved by the SCQuARE process Demonstrating a passion for the details, you enabled us to move rapidly through 16 very challenging topics.

SCQuARE helps win 900 new Tesco retail outlets for La Brea Bakery
Cuisine de France recognised that securing nationwide Tesco distribution was critical if their specialist bread range La Brea was to fulfil its potential, the problem was that previous proposals had been rejected by the customer!
Working with SCQuARE the La Brea team then undertook a complete UK wide view of the specialist bread market from a retail perspective, determining where Tesco were being successful and where they could improve, together with the quantifiable benefits to a change in approach.
The La Brea team represented their pitch with the suggestions as to how La Brea could help Tesco realise the full potential of the specialist bread market. The result was an immediate expansion from 75 stores to 975, and an estimated £10m sales uplift.
As an added bonus we were awarded 'The Tesco presentation of the year' at their annual suppliers dinner.

Unilever SCQuARE Plans accepted on first presentation
Unilever Germany, Austria and Switzerland have adopted SCQuARE as the common methodology for all plans.
The top 60 managers have been trained in SCQuARE and then applied it to their annual plans across all categories. The plans were presented to HQ and immediately approved thereby enabling a massive shift in time spent towards executing.

SCQuARE Help England cricket team to world’s number one spot
With the advent of the Indian premier league and an almost seemingly continuous twelve month calendar of international cricket, the professional cricket association (PCA) were tasked by the England Players to build a plan that would safeguard Test Cricket as the pinnacle of the game whilst at the same time helping them be able to adapt to ever increasing demands. The plan had to satisfy the ECB, players, coaching staff, dependents and sponsors.
The result was a SCQuARE project that had the input of players past and present, administrators and TV resulting in an all-encompassing plan that has seen many changes made to schedule ,player and dependent benefits and player exposure.

SCQuARE helps Novartis and Genentech turnaround $bn drug in USA
We lead a Strategy into Action Workshop for 60 top executives from pharmaceutical giant Novartis and bio technology company Genentech in San Francisco, to put together the agreed North American brand strategy for a new drug that was already losing sales momentum. The application of the analytical purity of the SCQuARE approach enabled the different stakeholders to reach rapid agreement on the causes and the consequences of the key internal and external challenges and therefore to determine the optimum plan for execution.
The resultant actions drove year volume way ahead of corporate expectations.

We worked with Revlon in Shanghai to help them create a new strategy for China to generate new ways of improving their position and performance in the face of fierce competition in the Chinese market and a number of structural and market complications that they faced.

We worked with the global hygiene and paper company SCA in Vietnam to help them build a culture and a practice of creativity within their Asia Pacific marketing department, and to help them find new propositions with which to enter the growth markets of South East Asia. Speedo uses SCQuARE and Breaker to develop a breakthrough plan for its Goggles business
Working with the Speedo team, we developed a business plan for the Goggles business, which had previously been under developed, compared to Speedo’s swimwear operation. The team was able to make some challenging strategic choices, and then align behind a set of plans which precisely met the challenges of the market.
A year on and the business is now performing impressively, not least because many of the initiatives first imagined at the SCQuARE-Breaker session have now been implemented.
Having trained the Speedo team in the SCQuARE-Breaker techniques, they are now in a position to return to the planning process to refresh and re-new their plans, thus ensuring they continue to lead the category.
